studio rien: flower workshop, valentine's orders, and food donations
coming together in cold times
My chickadees,
It was my birthday this past weekend, and after a few years’ hiatus on parties, I decided to invite some folks over into our home. For those that braved the cold, we poured drinks and spoke over and over again about how surreal these times are — to be safely warm inside, together, watching children shriek and scramble about, and eating cake — while being highly aware of how much is going on on the outside.
I wondered whether to send out this note, but this weekend confirmed my belief that coming together, if you’re able, to share bread (quite literally) and to touch dirt and earth, helps us brave the storms outside.
And so in February I invite you to join us in the studio a few times over, and share a bit of love, some food, and some glowing petals. See details below.

studio sandwich making for CHiPS - feb 7
Join us on the morning of Saturday, February 7th to make and package sandwiches for donation. CHiPS is community meal provider, food pantry, and shelter for women with young children on 4th Ave, not far from our studio. Last time around, we were amazed to see so many friends, clients, and neighbors join in the effort — providing over 250 lunches through donations and volunteering. We’d love to do it again and have you join us: details and sign up information here.
valentine’s arrangements - feb 11, 12, 13
Valentine’s Day is, somehow, on its way. If you are lucky enough to have loved ones near, I hope you take the excuse to squeeze em up, spoil em a little, and hunker down together in the cold. I’m offering a limited number of arrangements this year for local delivery or Boerum Hill pick up. They will be pretty as can be and full of early spring flowers. Order here.
* flower party * pin frog workshop - feb 28
At our last * Flower Party * there was high enthusiasm to learn how to design with pin frogs, or kenzans. And so: we’re doing it! Join us on Saturday, February 28th for a special ikebana-inspired edition. As always, it’s part workshop (learn how to make beautiful arrangements), part creative practice (play with the season’s best flowers), part party (bring friends, make friends). Tickets are limited and will go fast - snag yours here.
