Hi my sweet peas!
Love, oh love! We are officially in that section of the year when all small businesses declare it ALMOST VALENTINE’S DAY! Something about this makes me laugh — it is strange to be on this side, encouraging what is, after all, a silly holiday.
I’ve never been into the idea of a shiny present (so cliche!) or venturing out to a restaurant (all those horrible prix-fixes!), but if having a child has taught me one thing it’s that any excuse to celebrate is a good one.
So this year: we are decorating heart cookies! We will cut out paper hearts! We will maybe send notes to people we adore, if we remember! Maybe we will make ourselves some sashimi, because WHY NOT? Champagne all around!
So: yes, I kind of think you should order valentine’s day flowers, if you or somebody you like are into flowers. Love is love, and flowers are for everyone, and we all deserve a little joy in February.
valentine’s day orders are live!
And so: I am taking a limited number of orders for delivery on February 13th and 14th. Now is the time to order! I have limited capacity, so first come first serve! The palette will be fresh and cheery, no glaring reds, just all the loveliness. Order Valentine’s flowers here.
subscriptions also make an excellent gift
For Valentine’s Day, a birthday, or a “how do I get through this winter” treat, send a flower subscription. I have weekly and monthly options and it’s a really nice way to give a gift that keeps on gifting, with flowers changing as the seasons do. Order subscriptions here.
around the studio — all the nice things edition
with soul: My dear friend Megan and her husband just launched the beautiful Eterna Home, dedicated to Mexican craftsmanship. The curation is impeccable - warm, joyful, and utilitarian and I can’t stop browsing. // many things are a drag: When it comes to parenting (see: toothbrushing) but hanging with neighbors has been a surprise delight (h/t to Cup of Jo for the rec!). // pro move: Obviously you should eat at Superiority Burger every chance you get. But if a full meal isn’t in the cards, the real move is to head to the back bar and pick up a pint of whatever sorbet or gelato they have going that day. Blue corn atole or vegan chocolate with almonds and apricot ripple, decisions abound. // eyeing it: Current hobbies include pretending we’re about to go on a warm holiday, and right now we are reminiscing about our stay in San Sebastian years ago and dreaming of tooling around the Basque coast. Inspo here and here, see you there. // ice cream withstanding: I’ve been craving desserts with a savory touch, and this white sesame cake with umeboshi is bookmarked several times over…
with all my heart, glittery as can be, freyan
ps, did someone else send you this little note?
